Mickey Don BanksI am a Veteran.

of Mabelvale, AR

April 6, 1942 - September 27, 2014

Mickey Don Banks of Mabelvale passed away peacefully at home on September 27, 2014. He was born April 6, 1942 in North Little Rock to the late J.T. Banks and Mildred Tucker Banks.

He was a retired carpenter at the Arkansas State Hospital, an avid sportsman, and a Razorback fan. He was also an Army veteran. Nothing pleased him more than gathering his family to go dove hunting. He used this time to ''lecture on life'' as the family called it. He was greatly loved and will be missed by all that knew him.

He is predeceased by his brother, Jimmy Banks.

Mickey is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Colleen Williams Banks. He is also survived by his brother, Bobby Banks (Connie) of North Little Rock; daughter, Donna Banks-Scroggins (David) of Cabot; son, Mark Banks (Brandy) of Mayflower; and daughter, Heather Clark (Kimo) of Mabelvale. Mickey loved and adored his grandchildren, Marissa, Justin, Jessica, Kayedon, Zoye, Corye ''Peanut'', Brittany, Chris, Amanda, Matt, Sorsha, Sydney and Tabitha and his great-grandchildren, Marley, Denton and Embrey.

Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hunters Feeding the Hungry, P.O. Box 55303,
Little Rock, Arkansas 72215-5303.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at the Roller-Drummond Funeral Home Chapel, 10900 Interstate 30, Little Rock, Arkansas 72209, (501) 455-5800 with Father Marcus Emmons officiating. I really hated to hear about Mickey’s passing. I knew Mickey when I was a kid back in the 1950’s. Mickey was in a band with my brother Foster McConnell. They called themselves the BopperTones. They really were pretty good. They all had aspirations of fame and fortune, but it never quite worked out. Mickey lived next door to us for several years on 52nd Street in NLR back in the sixties. He was a funny guy. He was a great guy. He was a real character. I last saw him at Foster’s funeral in May, 2010. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
