July 28, 1954 - January 24, 2015
Roy (Pa Pa) Foster, Jr., was born to the late Roy Foster, Sr. and Aquilla (Black) Foster. Roy was born July 28, 1954 and departed this life on January 24, 2015.
Roy professed a faith in Christ at an early age at the Union Baptist Church in Conway, Arkansas under the leadership of Rev. Robert Crawford. He became an active member of the Mount Gale Missionary Baptist Church after being relocated to Arkansas during his military duties. He served on the Deacon Board, Administration, Tech support, Upgrades, Advancements, Building Maintenance and Safety. He was also involved in the Sight and Sound, active with the Middle Western District Association annual fishing derby and very supportive to the pastor.
Roy served in the Army Military for over twenty-five years and retired in 1998 as a E-7 Sergeant Major. He was also a Special Agent for the United States Marshall, criminal investigator, and military police, safety NCO. He also worked for L.R. Job Corp/Del-Jen Health, Safety and Environment. His last active job was with Tetra Oil/Osha where his primary duty was health and safety.
Roy was very private and quiet man, but oh so smart. When it came to studying, he was given a gift that only our Lord and Savior could give. He could listen attentively to instructors and never study. Take a test and ace it. He received a Master's and bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland in Environmental Science.
With his quiet spirit, his actions for his family spoke for itself. He truly loved his wife, children, grandchildren and extended family. Two things Roy enjoyed most were driving and fishing. In the Acklin Family, he was the designated driver for all the family outings outside Arkansas. He once said that driving gave him a sense of peace with a road map for life. He also enjoyed fishing with his grandsons early in the mornings by the still waters. A few years ago, he bought a Bass fishing boat for himself and grandsons. That was his pride and joy.
Roy was a good husband, father/pa pa and a good provider for his family. He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory: (Peggy) Diane (wife) for over forty-one years, his two daughters, Aisha and Kerbie Foster and his three grandchildren, Alexia (Lexi) Crater, Channing (Chanman) Monroe and Ka'marion (Noonie) Hamilton. He also leaves to mourn one sister Gloria (Terry) Cane from Tulsa, Oklahoma. His special mother-in-law, Mary Acklin, whom he loved as his mother from Conway, Arkansas, Aunt Betty Smith of Little Rock, Arkansas, cousin Sandra Green from Little Rock, Arkansas and sisters-in-law, Barbara (James), Deborah (Harold), Beverly (Theodore) and Sandra, Nieces, Nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Mount Gale Baptist Church with interment to follow at Rae Cemetery under the direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway.
