of North Little Rock, AR
August 12, 1930 - April 21, 2017
Raymond Wade ''Cubby'' Clinton died peacefully at his home April 21, 2017. He was a godly and good man. Raymond was the youngest of nine, and the last surviving child born to George Clinton and Hassie Simpson Clinton in Cypress Ridge, Arkansas on August 12, 1930. Cubby grew up in and around Brinkley, Arkansas and proudly graduated from Brinkley High School in 1950. After working in construction on the west coast, two years Army service in Alaska, and many and assorted jobs, he landed at Arkansas State Teacher's College in Conway, Arkansas. There he met the love of his life, the beautiful Ruth Merritt, on a blind date. They were married on February 6, 1960. Cubby and Ruthie were a perfect match, and she preceded him in death in 2015 after fifty-five years of marriage. They both graduated from ASTC in 1963. He retired from the Arkansas State Health Department after thirty years of service as a Health Educator. Raymond loved God, His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, his wife, his children, his grandchildren, his Church, his extended family, his country and the St. Louis Cardinals. He survived by his and Ruth's children, Mark Clinton and Michelle Clinton Daniel; their spouses Kim Clinton and Marc Daniel; grandsons Joshua Clinton, Drew Daniel, Benny Clinton and Joseph Clinton. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Carole Merritt Hoofman, his brother-in-law, Sidney Fitzgerald, and many much-loved nieces and nephews and other family members. How do you sum up in just a few words 86 years of a life well lived? Cubby Clinton will be missed by all who knew him.
