Vernal "Grady" Dale Buttry

of Mountain Home, AR

January 31, 1944 - May 19, 2017

Vernal Dale Buttry - known by all as ''Grady'' -passed from his earthly labors on Friday, May 19, 2017. He was born January 31, 1944 to Vern and Ida Buttry in Jonesboro, Arkansas. It was in Jonesboro that he grew up and married Betty Fay Moreland on May 22, 1962. He worked in construction and together they raised three children: Leanna, Sean and Cayse. In 1996, they moved to the Mountain Home area and Grady joined the Clarkridge Fire Department where he served as Firefighter, Lieutenant, Captain and Assistant Fire Chief for the past 20 years. ''Grady'' enjoyed being a member of the fire department. He considered each and every firefighter on the Clarkridge Fire Department and any other Fire Department as family. He worked on the fire department as he lived his life with a smile on his face and a spring in his step. The hole that is left by his absence can never be filled. Most do not believe in heroes, but only those who have not met my Dad Sean Buttry.
The memorial and celebration of life for ''Grady'' will be at the Clarkridge Fire Department Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 2pm. All are welcome to join us in remembering the greatest firefighter and father in the world Arrangements are by Roller Funeral Home. Visit our online guestbook at www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/mtnhome.

Im truly sorry for the loss of your loved one. Often times we cant find the right words to express how we feel only tears. God is near those who are broken-hearted, Psalms 34:18. May He provide strength for the days ahead.

Dear Betty, Leanna, Cayse,Sean, and Lynn,

My heart goes out to you and the grandchildren that I know he loved more than life itself. He was an amazing man and will be missed by all. Thoughts and prayers to you all. Wish I could be there to support you all in this time of sorry. He will suffer no more, but I know that doesn't comfort you knowing he is no longer here. I will continue to keep you all in my prayers this upcoming weeks praying you will someday find some comfort in knowing he is at rest.

Miss Betty,

I am so sorry to hear that Mr. Buttry has passed away. It breaks my heart. He was such a sweet man. I always looked forward to seeing him when he came in to the office. He always made me laugh. I feel blessed to have known him. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. And always remember that he was very well thought of by all of us that were privileged enough to know him.
